JMC South Africa, backed by the Salvador Caetano Group, has officially launched the all new JMC Vigus Single Cab Bakkie. Designed to bridge the gap between commercial utility and everyday driving comfort, the new Vigus Single Cab (4x2 MT) is offered as a solution for fleet operators and independent contractors.

The Vigus Single Cab is powered by a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine, delivering 123 kW of power at 3,400 rpm. More importantly for commercial operators, the bakkie produces 410 Nm of torque, accessible from 1,400 rpm through to 2,400 rpm. This low-end grunt ensures that whether you are pulling away with a fully loaded cargo bed or navigating difficult unpaved terrain, the Vigus provides smooth, unrelenting momentum.
Towing and payload capability
A commercial bakkie earns its keep through its load-carrying ability. The Vigus Single Cab features an expansive cargo bed measuring 2,310mm in length and 1,595mm in width, finished with a durable factory spray-in bedliner to handle harsh materials. It comfortably accommodates a full 1,000 kg payload. For businesses that require even more transport capacity, the Vigus offers a 2,000 kg braked towing capability (and 750 kg unbraked), allowing operators to hitch heavy equipment trailers or additional supply loads with complete confidence.
Fuel Consumption
Operating a fleet in today's economic climate requires a sharp focus on running costs. The Vigus Single Cab's diesel engine is mated to a precise 6-speed manual transmission, a combination tuned to optimize fuel consumption. By maximizing the efficiency of every drop of diesel and pairing it with a generous 73-litre fuel tank, the Vigus ensures less time spent at the pumps and a longer operational range, keeping fuel expenses manageable and operational uptime high across cross-provincial deliveries or stop-and-go city traffic.
